1951 Born Waterloo, Iowa
1975 Received Humanities Graduate Fellowship
1976 Master’s Degree in Humanities from Arizona
1977 Curatorial Assistant, Portland Art Museum
1983 Master’s Degree in Art (Photography), San Francisco State
1985 Started Joseph McDonald Photography – a commercial studio
specializing in the photography of fine art, antiques and objets’ d’art
1986 Met Frederick Sommer who bought some of my work and was very
encouraging. Visited him in subsequent years at his home in Prescott, AZ.
1988 Appointed museum photographer for the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco
1990 Worked with Don Farnsworth and Joseph Goldyne at Magnolia Editions
1993 Started working with Mac Holbert at Nash Editions
1995 Started teaching photography/art at Santa Rosa Junior College
2005 Established Studio B/Joseph McDonald Photography, a commercial studio/fine
printing/gallery space in the Burdell building in Petaluma, CA
2009 Formed Digital Grange with partner Bill Kane and associate John Annesley.
